Position: TRANSPORT COORDINATOR

This role reports directly to the OPERATIONS MANAGER

Site Location: CLAIRWOOD KZN (COLD STORAGE)

 

The Suitable candidate will meet the criteria below;

 

Key Performance Areas:

  • Route Planning & Scheduling
    Assign daily delivery routes and plan efficient schedules to optimize vehicle utilization, fuel efficiency, and timely deliveries.
  • Driver Coordination & Communication
    Provide clear instructions to drivers, monitor their progress, and resolve operational issues or delays proactively.
  • Documentation & Record Control
    Manage transport-related documentation including PODs, manifests, trip sheets, and ensure accurate record-keeping for all deliveries.
  • Compliance & Safety Management
    Ensure drivers adhere to safety protocols, traffic regulations, and legal requirements governing transport operations.
  • Monitoring & Performance Tracking
    Track vehicle locations, delivery progress, and turnaround times, identifying bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
  • Operational Reporting
    Prepare daily and periodic transport performance reports for management, highlighting efficiency, incidents, and recommendations.

    Demonstrates strong skills in planning delivery routes, optimizing schedules, and coordinating transport activities efficiently.

    Capable of managing multiple tasks and resolving issues effectively in a fast-paced, high- pressure transport environment.
  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills
    Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with drivers, supervisors, and management effectively.
  • Time Management & Administrative Ability
    Strong organizational, time management, and administrative skills to ensure timely reporting, documentation control, and operational efficiency.

Technical competency requirements:

 

  • Transport Management Systems (TMS)
    Proficient in using transport management systems to plan, track, and optimize delivery operations.
  • Fleet Scheduling, Routing & Tracking
    Knowledgeable in scheduling vehicles, planning efficient routes, and monitoring fleet movements to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Proof of Delivery (POD) Management
    Experienced in managing PODs, trip documentation, and maintaining accurate records for all transport activities.
  • Fleet Maintenance Awareness
    Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance requirements to support fleet reliability and prevent operational disruptions.

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

  • Matric / Grade 12
  • 2-3 years transport coordination experience
  • Knowledge of routing systems
  • Logistics/transport qualification (advantage)

 

ENVIRONMENTAL OR OTHER CONDITIONS:

  • Cold storage environment
  • Weekend and after-hours work may be required based on operational needs
