Position: SERVICES MANAGER – ECONO FOOD – COLD STORAGE
This role reports directly to the OPERATIONS MANAGER
Site Location: JOHANNESBURG
About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on, highly organised, and assertive Services Manager to oversee and manage all operational service activities at the Econo Food site. This role requires a strong leader who can effectively manage teams, maintain workflow efficiency, ensure operational compliance, and drive performance within a high-volume commercial warehousing environment. The Services Manager will be responsible for staff management, client engagement, operational oversight, financial control, and ensuring full compliance with site-specific KPIs, safety standards, and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Staff Management
- Managing staff and client needs.
- Provide daily communication and conduct staff meetings.
- Monitor and manage shift patterns, timekeeping, and punctuality.
- Assist with Industrial Relations and Recruitment.
- Take responsibility for productivity, discipline, and staff performance.
Operational Coordination
- Macro-managing operational departments.
- Ensure all deadlines are met regarding customer and client demands.
- Ability to manage a weekly plan of fleet collections, deliveries, and volume output.
- Monitor and plan production and receiving schedules.
- Work strictly according to company policies and procedures.
- Optimise resource allocation across shifts to support volume fluctuations.
- Control overtime, equipment usage, and operational consumables.
Quality, Compliance & Safety
- Conduct quality and accuracy inspections for picking and packing.
- Ensure compliance with customer order requirements and specifications.
- Ensure compliance and execution of all safety rules and regulations.
- Compliance with operational KPIs (site-specific).
Client Communication & Service Delivery
- Build effective communication and relationship management with clients.
- Provide daily feedback to clients regarding delivery and order status.
- Always ensure exceptional service delivery standards.
Financial & Reporting Responsibilities
- Control direct expenses and temporary manpower.
- Should have financial understanding based on budgets, forecasts, wages, and invoicing.
- Compile daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
Process Optimisation & Continuous Improvement
- Identify inefficiencies in receiving, picking, packing, and dispatch processes.
- Implement productivity improvements and standardised work methods (LEAN/Six Sigma).
- Drive a continuous improvement culture within teams.
Minimum Requirements
- Matric / Grade 12
- Computer literate (MS Package)
- Minimum 5 years’ warehouse/logistics, inventory management experience, and cold storage
- Relevant qualifications for warehouse management, Six Sigma, and SHERQ
- 3 years’ retail experience
- Own transport with a valid Code 8 (B) driver’s licence

ENVIRONMENTAL OR OTHER CONDITIONS:
Weekend work and after-hours work in an operational position might be required. This is an operational role based in a cold storage distribution environment.
