Position: OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY MANAGER

This role reports directly to the HUMAN RESOURCES EXECUTIVE

Site Location: MULTI SITE/ NATIONAL TRAVEL REQUIRED

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Manager to lead and continuously improve our SHER OHS Management System across multiple sites. Reporting directly to the Human Resources Executive, this role will drive governance, legal compliance, risk management, and safety culture in alignment with our Zero Harm strategy and ISO standards.


This is a leadership role suited for a proactive professional who thrives in multi-site operational environments and is passionate about building a strong safety culture while ensuring regulatory compliance.

 

Key Performance Areas:

 

Governance & Compliance

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve the SHER/OHS Management System.
  • Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act, and National Environmental Management Act.
  • Align systems with ISO 45001 and ISO 9001 standards.
  • Lead annual policy reviews and ensure regulatory readiness across all sites.

 

Administration

  • Risk Management & Incident Control
  • Lead HIRA and site risk assessments.
  • Oversee permit-to-work systems and control of work procedures.
  • Drive incident investigations and root-cause analysis.
  • Ensure timely corrective action implementation and reporting compliance.

 

Monitoring, Auditing & Reporting

  • Lead internal audits and coordinate external OHS audits.
  • Monitor KPIs including LTIFR, TRIR, near-misses, and training compliance.
  • Present monthly and quarterly OHS reports to EXCO.
  • Drive continuous improvement toward SHER system maturity.

 

Safety Culture & Leadership

  • Champion Zero Harm and safety awareness initiatives.
  • Lead SHER committees and engagement programs.
  • Promote accountability and proactive safety behaviour across all sites.

 

Training & Development

  • Develop and implement annual SHER training plans.
  • Monitor mandatory training and certification compliance.
  • Support professional development and industry engagement (e.g., SAIOSH).

 

ESG & Environmental Responsibilities

  • Oversee environmental monitoring and waste management initiatives.
  • Support sustainability and social responsibility programs linked to SHER.


Minimum Requirements


Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or Risk Management.
  • SAMTRAC / NEBOSH (essential).
  • ISO 45001 / ISO 9001 Auditor certification (advantageous).

 

Experience

  • 5–8 years OHS management experience.
  • Proven multi-site oversight experience.
  • Strong background in audits, risk management, and incident investigation.
  • Experience within logistics, warehousing, manufacturing, or industrial environments preferred.
