Position: Handyman

Location: Bidvest International Logistics Cape Town

This role reports directly: OPS Manager

Key Performance Areas:

• Perform general maintenance and repairs on warehouse infrastructure (doors, shelving, fixtures).
• Carry out basic electrical tasks such as replacing bulbs, checking outlets, and installing light fittings.
• Conduct basic plumbing work including fixing leaks, unclogging drains, and replacing taps or fittings.
• Assemble and install equipment, workstations, and storage systems to support operational needs.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of common areas, restrooms, and staff facilities.
• Conduct routine inspections and report safety hazards or maintenance needs.
• Ensure safe use, handling, and storage of tools and equipment.
• Uphold safety standards for self, co-workers, and the working environment.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and assist other departments as needed.
• Adapt to changing priorities and perform tasks efficiently under pressure.

Qualifications & Experience

• Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
• Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing and welding work (no formal certification required).
• Proven experience in a general maintenance or handyman role.
• Familiarity with warehouse or industrial environments (advantageous).

Working Conditions

• Physically demanding role with exposure to warehouse conditions (noise, dust, temperature fluctuations).
• May require occasional overtime, weekend shifts, or emergency call-outs.
• Must wear appropriate PPE and follow safety protocols at all times.
